The following file versions are recommended for BrightWorks installation and use :
IPX version 3.10
NETX version 3.26 or greater

If you are using ODI Drivers instead of IPX, you must have :
LSL version 1.2 (2.01) is recommended
IPXODI.COM version 1.2 (2.01) is recommended.
NLM requirements :
Netware 3.11 and 3.12 File Servers :
The new SMRPROXY.NLM which ships with BrightWorks v. 1.2 is LSL based. This means that in order to successfully run the SMRPROXY.NLM, the LSLENH.NLM MUST be loaded, before the lan drivers, on the fileserver.
BTRIEVE.NLM version 6.10 or later
CLIB.NLM version 3.12f or later
LSLSENH.NLM version 1.01
MSM.NLM version 2.2
PATCHMAN.NLM version 2.3
ETHERTSM.NLM or TOKENTSM.NLM or RXNETTSM.NLM
All LAN Drivers need to be updated (i.e NE2000.LAN)
Netware 4.x File Servers :
The requirements for Netware v. 4.x is that you must be running Netware v.
4.01, 250 user version or lower, with bindery emulation.
To install BrightWorks, you must also:
1. Be logged in as a SUPERVISOR or equivalent
2. Run Windows 3.1 in enhanced mode or Windows for Workgroups 3.11.
3. Have the following line in the [386enh] section of your SYSTEM.INI file :
network=*vnetbios, vnetware.386, vipx.386
4. Have a drive mapped to your system volume.
5. Have a minimum of 14379K of free disk space; recommended is
24414K.
INSTALLING BRIGHTWORKS :
1. Verify that you have a drive letter mapped to to SYS volume for
the file server on which you are installing BrightWorks.
2. Start Windows in enhanced mode.
3. Choose RUN from the Program Manager FILE menu. Click on Browse and select SETUP.EXE from the drive letter corresponding to your CD-ROM and select OK.
4. From the CHOOSE SERVER dialog box, select the server on which
you want to install BrightWorks, and click on the OK button. BrightWorks will verify at this point, that you have supervisor rights on the selected server.
5. Select one of the following install options :
BASIC INSTALL - installs with minimal user input. This will create
the McAfee program group containing the BrightWorks and Crystal
Reports program and Readme file icons.
. UPGRADE - allows you to automatically upgrade from
previous versions of McAfee metering or LAN Inventory
software to BrightWorks with minimal user input.
N.B. The installation procedure allows you to specify a drive letter that is mapped to a different server than the one you originally chose.
DO NOT install BrightWorks in the same directory as SiteMeter or LAN Inventory.
BASIC Installation
6a. Enter the full path name to where BrightWorks should be installed, and choose the OK button. N.B. The drive letter and full directory must coincide with the file sever you selected earlier. BrightWorks will create the directory if it does not exist. The default drive letter is the first one found on the server you specified and BWORKS is the default directory.
From this point on you will be prompted to insert the remaining disks to complete the installation.
7a. Enter your company name, and choose the OK button.
The company name must be between 1 and 20 characters in length.
8a. Choose the OK button in the information box indicating the successful installation of BrightWorks. View the Readme file for any updated product information.
9a. A dialog box displays asking you if you want to restart Windows at this point. You must restart Windows to enable the changes that BrightWorks made. Choose the YES button to restart Windows.
UPGRADE
The Upgrade Install offers you several options. You can either
install BrightWorks and copy the information contained in your current version of this product or just copy the information from existing software into the new BWORKS directory. Your existing information database is retained while your BrightWorks system is upgraded.
6b. Select an option from the Install Options dialog box
7b. Enter the full path name to where BrightWorks should be installed, and choose the OK button. N.B. The drive letter and full directory must coincide with the file sever you selected earlier. BrightWorks will create the directory if it does not exist. The default drive letter is the first one found on the server you specified and BWORKS is the default directory.
If BrightWorks already exists in the specified directory, an option box asks you whether or not you wish to overwrite this copy of BrightWorks. If you are installing over a Fusion 1.0 or greater or a LAN Automatic inventory 3.1 or greater, you will be prompted "Do you wish to overwrite your existing Inventory data files?" If you answer YES, you will need to collect the data again. Answering NO preserves your data. If LAN Inventory files are detected in the specified directory, you are prompted to choose whether or not you want to you the new BrightWorks software list. Either choose YES to use the new software list or NO to convert your existing software list. (Conversion of your existing list may result in duplicate software entries)
7a. Enter your company name, and choose the OK button.
The company name must be between 1 and 20 characters in length.
8b. At the prompt, (if upgrading from an earlier version of LAN inventory) then enter the path name for the existing copy of LAN Inventory and choose OK. BrightWorks verifies that you have a previous version of LAN Inventory, makes a duplicate copy of the files and then converts them to the BrightWorks software.
9b. At the prompt, (if upgrading from an earlier version of FUSION or
BrightWorks) then enter the path name for the existing copy of
LAN Inventory and choose OK. BrightWorks verifies that you have a previous version of McAfee metering software, makes a duplicate
copy of the files and then converts them to the BrightWorks software.
10b. Choose the OK button in the information box indicating the successful installation of BrightWorks. View the Readme file for any updated product information.
11b. A dialog box displays asking you if you want to restart Windows at this point. You must restart Windows to enable the changes that BrightWorks made. Choose the YES button to restart Windows.
INSTALLING NLM'S (BrightWorks specific)
At the file server console, type
BSTART :- This loads both the BTRIEVE.NLM and BPSXCOM.NLM
on the file server.
LOAD SMRPROXY.NLM :- This loads SMRPROXY.NLM and also
autoloads SITEMETER.NLM on the file server
